12/16/21 Superintendent Message

Dear FUSD Families,

I am writing to provide an update on FUSD’s response to a national TikTok trend involving threats to safety at schools on Friday, December 17 that you may be aware of from news coverage and varying responses from schools across the nation.

At this time, there is no known threat to any FUSD schools.

We are working in collaboration with the Fremont Police Department to monitor any developments, and the School Resource Officers (SROs) assigned to each of our high schools are working closely with us on this matter and are in the process of investigating this further.

This message is sent and our response is undertaken out of an abundance of caution, and in consultation with the Fremont Police Department, we don’t believe there is any need to adjust the operations at our school sites at this time.

As you may know, other recent social media posts have encouraged unsafe, inappropriate, disruptive, and even criminal actions by students. Promoting and engaging in such actions is neither harmless nor an innocent prank.

Please take time to talk to your student about these social media challenges and the significant importance of making good choices, and potential consequences for students who engage in inappropriate and/or dangerous conduct.

As always, we encourage you to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement and school administration.

I am very sorry for the undue stress this places upon our students, staff and community. I appreciate your partnership in keeping our schools safe.

Sincerely,

CJ Cammack
Superintendent
