Fremont Unified School District is committed to ensuring academic success for every student and to achieving our district Goal: Establish partnerships with our families and community to increase academic success for all students.

As part of the Fremont’s ongoing strategic improvement efforts, the district has formed a District Equity Team to help develop an equity plan focused on closing achievement and opportunity gaps for students. Like many districts across the region, state, and nation, Fremont Unified sees evidence of achievement and opportunity gaps in its data.

  • Achievement gaps refer to any significant, persistent disparities in academic performance between groups of students, based on income level, race, or program participation.
  • Opportunity gaps refer to gaps in access to resources, programs.

Throughout the 2017-18 school year, the district worked to provide staff professional development, and to refine our district's policies to prevent harassment. The District Equity Team will help make recommendations to the District regarding the effectiveness of the district’s anti-harassment program for all students in the District.

The District Equity Team consists of 20 members and will include district staff, community representatives, parents and students. Team members have been selected based upon geographic location and representation of the diverse population of the City of Fremont. The District Equity Team reviews and discusses data, prioritizes action steps, and advises on the development of the district’s equity plan. Team members have committed to a two-year term.
