4/7/2020 - We are currently not processing enrollments for the 2020-2021 school year. Please do not email documents in attempt to enroll for 2020-2021. Please continue to check this website for updates as we make adjustments to our enrollment process due to the shelter-in-place. 

Due to the district closure, some enrollment activities have been suspended. Once we reopen we will update our timeline and resume enrollment. This effects 2020-2021 enrollments, kindergarten lottery, placement letters, caregiver affidavits, and declaration of residencies. Enrollment updates will be posted here as new information emerges.

4/6/20 - New information on Intra & Inter District Transfers


Topics (A through M) provide information for parents/guardians to start and complete the enrollment process. When communicating with FUSD Staff please use the Topic Letter to help direct your questions.

  1. Announcements (updated 4/7/2020) 

    ► Secondary lottery is now complete. Status letters will be mailed home during or before the week of April 20.
    ► Transitional Kindergarten (TK) enrollment is closed for 2019-2020 unless your student is currently enrolled in a public school TK program.

  2. Current Year (Elementary students starting as soon as possible) Enrollments will be accepted on a walk-in basis. PLEASE NOTE: In order to have your student start school the following day enrollment must be completed by 3 pm. Confirm Topic C then see Topic G.

    Next Year (Elementary students starting August 2020) Confirm Topic C then see Topic H.

  4. Who can Enroll: Prerequisites
    Students must be living full-time in Fremont, CA at the time of enrollment.
    Students must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st of the current year to enroll in Kindergarten. Current Chart of Grades for School Year 2019/2020.
    Kindergarten classes are 3 hours in length. AM or PM assignments are determined by the school.

    A student cannot be enrolled in an FUSD school for the current school year if they are currently enrolled in another public or private school for the current school year.

Next Year Elementary How to Enroll 2020-21 School Year - Grades TK (Transitional Kindergarten) through Grade 6 (Students starting school August 2020)  This process has been suspended as we update our process based on the shelter-in-place. Please check back periodically for updates. (updated 4/7/20)
  9. Secondary How to Enroll Grade 7 through Grade 12 for 2020-2021 - Please visit your home secondary school website then under Contacts & Resources for Registrar/Enrollment/Registration. If you are not sure which school is your home school, use School Locator.
  10. Lottery and Wait Lists - Elementary schools participate in a Kindergarten lottery/wait lists when more Kinder students are enrolled than available space. Overload Complaint Form (pdf).

  12. Transitional Kindergarten Program Information - PLEASE NOTE Initial grade placement of enrolling students shall be based on chronological age (BP 5111).
  13. Science Magnet - Mattos Elementary offers opportunity to transfer into a science program. Admission is based on available space.
  14. 2018-2019 Before/After School Child Care Providers Not operated by FUSD. Providers are subject to change.
