Dear parents and students,
Well, the first trimester is almost over. November 9 is the end of this grading period and we are all scheduled for our parent conferences. Students are FINALLY figuring out the expectations of sixth grade and are ready to start fresh in the second trimester. Remember that the week of the 13th - 16th school is dismissed at 12:25. Also, remember that Monday, November 12, is a holiday and therefore, there is no school. Friday, November 9th is also an early dismissal of 1:55.
I am looking forward to meeting with all of you and discussing your child's progress. We have had a great first trimester. Our trip to the Exploratorium was great, and we were lucky to experience a beautiful day in San Francisco. We trekked to Lake Elizabeth today and ate, played, and got our exercise in. We have had two great art lessons with Mrs. Geschke. For the first time our sixth graders got to dress up for Halloween, and we had a great time carving pumpkins together. We made spider hats with our kindergarten buddies. They all work so well together, and our little buddies just love their big buddies.
We will be doing our class spelling bee the week of November 13th and our class's two winners will compete in the school spelling bee on December 13. Our school walkathon is November 29. Next week (Nov. 7) information will be going home on how to sponsor your child and to how to help raise funds for our technology drive.
Friendships are forming, groups are working well together, kids are settling in. The first trimester is the hardest, but now we will begin a great second trimester together. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving Break with family and friends.
