Social Science Teacher: Kennedy High School
Hello and welcome to Mr. Ovalle's web page. Mr. Ovalle is entering his first year teaching position, straight from student teaching in the credential program at CSU-Chico. Mr. Ovalle grew up in the Central Valley in Modesto, CA and graduated high school from Grace M. Davis High School in 2008. After graduating from Davis, Mr. Ovalle attended CSU-Chico as a History major. In his undergraduate years, Mr. Ovalle participated in the History Club, Brazlus- Brazilian Lusophonic Club and intramural sports. Mr. Ovalle is a Founding Father of the Alpha Sigma Phi, Epsilon Psi Chapter.In the Fall of 2011, Mr. Ovalle studied abroad in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil.(Eu falo portugues) From 2012-2015, Mr. Ovalle worked on campus at the Accessibility Resource Center and later transferred to the Office of Accessible Technology Services department of the ARC. In May 2013, Mr. Ovalle graduated from CSU-Chico with his Bachelor's Degree in History. Mr. Ovalle then applied for graduate school and the credential program at CSU-Chico. Mr. Ovalle needed to take extra classes in order to apply to the credential program during the Fall 2013-Spring 2014 year. In May 2014, Mr. Ovalle received his acceptance into the prominent teaching credential program at CSU-Chico. He completed his student teaching at Orland High School learning from his two cooperating teachers, Mr. Barrett Plants and Mr. Jason Bragg. He taught 10th Grade World History and 11th Grade US History as well as serving as the Assistant Coach for the Junior Varsity Boy's Basketball team. In June 2015, Mr. Ovalle successfully landed a summer school position, in Fremont Unified School District, where he taught 7th graders in the Summer Math Academy at Thornton Junior High School. Mr. Ovalle is in the process of attaining his Subject Matter Authorization in Mathematics as well. With youth on his side, Mr. Ovalle is geared up for his first year of teaching at John F. Kennedy High School! Go Titans!
