Welcome to the FACE ESL Program!
Our award-winning ESL program offers a variety of classes in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, civics, work skills, business communication, listening and speaking, and pronunciation. Seven levels of core ESL, from Beginning Literacy to Advanced/Transitional to College, will help you improve your English skills and build your confidence on the job, in school, and in the community.  Day, evening, and weekend classes are available to choose from, including distance learning courses. Our friendly and experienced instructors will do their best to help you achieve your educational and career goals.  Certificates of achievement are awarded to students as they complete each level of ESL. Graduates of the ESL Program get employed or get promoted at work and move on to our High School Diploma and GED programs, and to community colleges. The Career and Transitions Center for ESL students (CTC) provides information and advisement to facilitate their successful transitions to post-secondary education and employment.

Our ESL Computer Labs are among the best in the Bay Area. Students come here during their ESL classes to practice English using a variety of ESL software and websites. In the VESL computer class students work on various projects in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.  The 5-level Rosetta Stone software program version 3 provides many hours of practice for all ESL levels helping students to learn English faster. We have Open Drop-in Computer Labs where registered ESL students can study at their own pace using rich software and online resources.

You can view ESL Student Learning Outcomes here.

Citizenship Preparation classes provide instruction and practice necessary to pass the citizenship interview and become a U.S. citizen. They are offered each quarter in  8-week sessions.

New This Year! Math for ESL class will help ESL students to review basic Math in English. In the Writing for ESL Class, students will get help with writing projects and receive instruction and feedback from an experienced writing teacher.
