    Accessibility

Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) is committed to providing an educational environment and an informational website to all students and members of the public, including those with disabilities.

Some users, with or without disabilities, may not be able to see, hear, or process some types of information; may have difficulty reading or understanding text; or may not be able to use a keyboard or mouse. Website design and compatibility with website readers and other technology can make the information on the website more accessible to everyone.

FUSD continues to review and update its website to ensure compliance with current (Federal Section 504, 508, Title II ADA and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at the AA level) and future standards, in part by using a premium third-party, non-biased monitoring service Siteimprove.

Most of the information provided on fremont.k12.ca.us is in HTML format. Longer documents and many printable forms are sometimes provided in PDF format. Additional resources to read a PDF document are available through Adobe Systems Accessibility Resource Center.

Closed captioning is provided for live and archived video of the Board of Education meetings.

We occasionally rely on third-party content and have no control over the accessibility of that content. Please contact us if you have trouble accessing third-party content and we will provide you with alternative versions.

If you experience difficulty accessing content on our website, please contact the Public Information Department at fusdweb@fremont.k12.ca.us. A staff member will work with you to resolve the issue, or provide the information in an alternative format.

    Diversity

Fremont Unified School District is committed to diversity, equality, and multiculturalism; ideas of promoting and accepting the differences between people. Diversity is about ensuring individuals are treated fairly no matter their race, gender, age, disability, religion or sexual orientation. School site contacts for assisting LGBTQ students.

We support this commitment in part with Diversity Awareness Training for all staff and a District wide curriculum for students. If you have diversity concerns, please contact your principal or department.

Fremont Unified School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. The Board of Trustees prohibits unlawful discrimination against and/or harassment of District employees and job applicants on the basis of actual or perceived race, color, national origin, ancestry, religious creed, age, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, veteran status, gender or sexual orientation at any District site and/or activity.  The Board also prohibits retaliation against any District employee or job applicant who complains, testifies, or in any way participates in the District’s complaint procedures instituted pursuant to this policy. Please contact Human Resources with any discrimination or employment issues.

    Equity

6/5/18 MESSAGE Fremont Unified School District is committed to equity in education - meaning that personal or social circumstances such as gender, ethnic origin or family background, are not obstacles to achieving educational potential and that all individuals are included. The students who are furthest behind require more resources to catch up, succeed, and eventually, close the achievement gap. We support this commitment in part through our dedicated Education Equity Coordinator, DiShawn Givens, Ed.D.

Additionally, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972: No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. Contact Title IX Coordinator.

    Privacy

Fremont Unified School District is committed to safeguarding your privacy. Please read the Google Apps and Privacy section of our website publishing tool to understand how your personal information will be treated and additionally visit other service’s privacy statements.

We support this commitment in part with Parent Notifications, Student Handbook forms, and technology best practices, including coordination with our Technology Advisory Committee. If you have privacy concerns please contact the Technology Department.

    Transparency

Fremont Unified School District is committed to open, honest and collaborative communication. We want to hear from you. Scheduling an appointment with your child's teacher, principal, or a District employee (contact their office) will ensure the person with whom you wish to speak is available. If you have concerns, complaints, or just a general comment, we provide a detailed web page to help direct your communication. FUSD accepts any written communication as a Uniform Complaint - no specific form is required.

We want to provide timely and accurate information. Transparency builds trust, and that trust creates a quality environment to collaborate toward our common goal that "our students are the top priority." Please contact the Office of the Superintendent with any suggestions. Our Board of Education follows the Brown Act and we endeavor to live stream and provide video archives of the meetings.

If your issues have not been addressed by the District, you can contact Alameda County Office of Education, the California Department of Education or the United States Department of Education Office for Civil Rights ("OCR") for more information.
