Which FUSD schools did you attend and when?
I attended Hopkins Junior High and Mission San Jose High School. I graduated from Mission San Jose High School in 1992.
Did you go on to college?
I received a BA in International Affairs and Foreign Languages from the University of Puget Sound and a Diploma of French Studies from the University of Dijion, France.
What are you doing now?
I direct trade programs in Northern California, Portland, Denver, Alaska and Hawaii for a federal agency.
How did your time with FUSD help prepare you for your career?
The schools in FUSD offered a good balance of academics, sports and extracurricular activities. This helped me try a lot of activities and hone in on what really interested me for further education.
Who are some of the teachers/staff who had the greatest influence on you?
Mr. Kalio and Mrs. Cook-Kalio. Both taught at Hopkins Junior High. Their teaching styles and enthusiasm for education and students still stick with me today.
What advice do you have for current students about how to best take advantage of their FUSD experience?
Take advantage of everything FUSD has to offer. Balance your life between academics, athletics and fun!
Anything else you’d like us to know about you?
I'm married with three children and am in Fremont frequently as my mom still lives there!
