    Fremont Unified School District is committed to ensuring academic success for every student and to achieving our district Goal: Establish partnerships with our families and community to increase academic success for all students.

    As part of the Fremont’s ongoing strategic improvement efforts, the district is forming a District Equity Team to help develop an equity plan focused on closing achievement and opportunity gaps for students. Like many districts across the region, state, and nation, Fremont Unified sees evidence of achievement and opportunity gaps in its data.

    • Achievement gaps refer to any significant, persistent disparities in academic performance between groups of students, based on income level, race, or program participation.
    • Opportunity gaps refer to gaps in access to resources, programs.

    Throughout the 2017-18 school year, the district will be working with Circle Up to provide staff professional development, and to refine our district's policies to prevent harassment. The district now seeks members for a District Equity Team to help make recommendations to the District regarding the effectiveness of the district’s anti-harassment program for all students in the District.

    The District Equity Team will consist of 15-20 members and will include district staff, community representatives, parents and students. Team members will be selected based upon geographic location and representation of the diverse population of the City of Fremont. The District Equity Team will review and discuss data, prioritize future action steps, and advise the development of the district’s equity plan. We are asking that team members commit to a two-year term on this committee.
