            Welcome to the Mattos Elementary website.  The importance of education at Mattos is our ongoing commitment to every child.  We continually aspire to achieve academic excellence and recognize every student’s need to have a well-rounded edu-

cation that includes their social and emotional development as well as preparing them for their future.

            Mattos is the only school in the Fremont Unified School District with a Science Magnet Program called “Soaring into Science.  We recently acquired the ST Math Program to enhance our curriculum and bring technology into the Computer Lab and classrooms.  We have an ethnically diverse community with a dedicated staff and parents, who collaboratively work together to maximize the abilities and talents of every student to attain their potential.  We believe in rigorous standards-based curriculum with a balanced instructional program that equitably supports all of our students.

            Our mission at Mattos Elementary School is to meet the needs of the entire learning community by providing the following:

·         a culturally proficient environment that is equitable, safe, nurturing,

and supportive;

·         an exemplary Science Magnet Program for all of our students;

·         curriculum rigor and instructional strategies to educate, challenge, and inspire students;

·         a collaborative partnership with parents through effective communication;

·         the development of talents and abilities of each student;

·         and the foundation for our students to have the requisite academic, social,

and emotional skills to adapt and contribute to an ever-changing world.

            As the principal, I have been working on trying to acquire more science and technology at this school and in the classrooms.  Join us and let’s work together. I look forward to a prosperous and exciting academic school year.

                                                   Sincerely,

                                                   Ms. E.

                                                   Tammy Eglinton, Principal

  • After School Pick-Up
    Please wait for your children at the
    picnic tables before the bell rings
    after school.

    Parents may not sit or stand in front
    of the classrooms prior to 2:50 pm
    (primary) or 3 pm (intermediate).
    Teachers need that time to finish
    instructing their students. Children
    become distracted and inattentive
    when they see their parents waiting
    for them outside of their classrooms.

    Thank you for your cooperation
    .

  • Last Day of School
    Wednesday, June 13, 2012
    The last day for students to attend school in the current year will be on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. When the calendar was developed a year ago, we planned to end school a day later, but the date has changed to June 13, 2012. The school year is being reduced by one day due to mid-year State budget reductions.
