IHS Counseling Announcements
 
Summer School:
 
Summer school registration forms are here!!! See your counselor ASAP to pick up a registration form.  Completed forms needed to be returned to your counselor by Friday, May 3rd, 2013. Classes are first-come, first-served. Students can still turn in their registration forms late, although they will not be guaranteed a class.  Students can take summer school classes if they:
  1. Have Is or NCs in courses needed to graduate (If it is an I in a 2nd semester class, students should talk with their teacher about contract summer school which is different than FUSD summer school)
  2. Have not passed the CAHSEE
  3. Are deficient in credits in a particular course of study needed to graduate 
 
Announcements for 12th Graders:
 
  1. If you have an I on your transcript, make sure to complete the contract ASAP and verify with your counselor that the grade gets changed on your transcript.
  2. If you received a NC for a class first semester or changed your class schedule and have applied to colleges, you need to notify every college IN WRITING of the class change/failing grade.
  3. End of the Year Transcripts: It is the student’s responsibility to request a final transcript to be sent to the college you have decided to attend.  This can be done now through the end of May by filling out an official transcript request through Ms. Lankford (our registrar) in the main office. You need to notify Ms. Lankford that you want it sent AFTER 2nd semester grades are posted.
  4. Service Learning Account: There are still some seniors that need to create their online service learning account.  The district will be eliminating their current program in the near future and if your hours are not in an online account they will disappear from your transcript.  See Mr. Lewis in room 25 if you are having trouble setting up an account.

Letters of Recommendation

Requests for letters of recommendation should be submitted to your counselor at least 15 school days before they are needed. 
 * For the 2013-2014 school year: Students that are applying to private colleges must submit their request packet by 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 if applying early action/early decision or Friday, November 1, 2013 if applying regular decision*

Adult School:
 
Adult school spring quarter registration for students that need to make up credits was February 13 & 14 for 12th graders and February 20th for 11th graders. Adult School is located at 4700 Calaveras Avenue. The spring quarter runs from March 5-May 23.
 

Early Assessment Program (EAP) info for 11th Graders: 

The EAP tests are an optional part of the 11th grade STAR test that you need to take.  Your EAP results let you and CSUs know if you will be ready for college level Math and English. It determines if you need to take extra English and Math courses prior to starting at the CSU.  For more info: http://calstate.edu/eap/ and EAP Information Sheet
