Reading, writing, language conventions, listening and speaking...these are the things that are taught in the English classes.  Walters' English teachers create innovative lessons to support the California standards.  For eighth grade students, the core novel is The Outsiders and for seventh graders, it is The Pearl.  In addition to these required books, teachers use an anthology of grade level pieces.  Timeless Voices, Timeless Themes  include  some wonderful short stories, dramas and non-fiction selections.
