Field Day:

MSJE’s field day is on Monday, June 17th from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Please have your student come prepared to have fun. Students should bring hats, put on sunscreen and bring water bottles. We need parent volunteers to make this event a success. Please contact the office or PTC to help.  Thank you in advance for your continued support of MJSE.

Coyote Hill Poster Winner

A huge congratulation goes out to Akshara V.  Her entry in the recent Coyote Hills Poster Contest won first prize. As a result of her winning poster, $500 dollars has been awarded to MSJE. Also shinning in this contest from MSJE were Hannah C., Skylar Q., Keertana S. and Angela R. Way to go everyone!

Volunteers Needed for Traffic Control:

Safety Patrol is in need of adult volunteers to help out with traffic control in the morning. Mrs. Raha needs 3 additional parents to help and make sure our students are safe when crossing the street. We would appreciate any amount of time you can spare in helping out.  Thank you to the MANY parents who are already volunteering their time.

Order Your Yearbook

You can still order yearbooks at www.treering.com. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to remember your child’s school year in pictures. The MSJE yearbook is in color and is a wonderful memento of your child’s time here at MSJE.

First Day of School for 2013- 2014 School Year – Wednesday, August 28th, 2013

All students are expected to report to school on the first day, Wednesday, August 28th 2013. Students who have not attended the first two days of school will be dropped at the end of the third day of school. Students who are dropped will not be guaranteed a seat at the school and may have to be overloaded to other schools upon return.

The only exceptions will be students who are absent due to illness. If a student is absent the first three days due to illness, parents or guardians must notify the school every day the student is absent. Seats will not be held for students on extended vacations or other optional activities, whether or not the school is notified.

Change of Address/Residency:

Please be reminded that it is the responsibility of parents under Board Policy 5111 to notify the school office within five (5) days if they move in or out of the attendance area.  Any move within the attendance area still requires four (4) new proofs of residency to verify the new address.  Failure to do so will result in revocation of the student’s placement at the school.

PARKING LOT PASSES:

Kindergarten parents and Adventure Time parents will be required to return their parking lot passes the week of June 3rd. Please drop off the passes in the office. Thanks for your cooperation.

Variety Show:

Selected performers will practice on Wednesday, May 29, Mon, June 3, Wednesday, June 5, and Mon. June 10. All practices will start at 3:00 PM and end at 4:30 PM. Wednesday, June 12th is our dress rehearsal starting at 3:00 PM. A school wide performance assembly will be held on June 13th for students and an evening performance for parents will be held on the same day.

Attention Parents of 6th Grade Students:

For the 2013 / 2014 school year, California Law (AB 354) requires an additional immunization called Tdap in order for your student to advance to or enter 7th grade. The adolescent whooping cough/pertussis booster shot, (Tdap) must be given on or after age 7 to meet this requirement. Valid proof must show: 1) type of shot given, 2) date, 3) provider’s signature/stamp. You can provide proof to your Elementary School Site up until the last day of school.

If parents have not provided proof to their school by the first day of school, August 2013, your student will NOT be allowed to attend.

School Lunches

Checks for school lunches will be accepted till Friday, May 31. You may prepay lunches through the last day of school as long as you do so before May 31st. After May 31st, all lunches may be purchased with cash. No checks or charges will be accepted after May 31st. Please pay off all current charges you may have.

Parent Survey

For the second year, FUSD will be conducting an annual Customer Satisfaction Survey.

The Customer Satisfaction Survey provides valuable information to stakeholders about FUSD schools.  Developed with input from parents, teachers, school based personnel, and students, the Customer Satisfaction Survey documents the perceptions of parents, staff, and grade 4-12 students about their experiences at their schools.  The surveys ask respondents about the opportunities students have to learn and be leaders at their schools, how welcoming and collaborative parents perceive the environment to be, support, the cleanliness and safety of the campus, and parent engagement.  Respondents at all elementary, junior high, and high schools will complete surveys online.

All parent surveys must be completed by June 28, 2013.  The online survey can be accessed beginning May 22, 2013 at http://www.fremont.k12.ca.us/parentsurvey2013.

We appreciate your participation in this important effort.

End of the Year:

Even though testing ended this week, instruction continues.  I know many parents have contacted the office about leaving early for vacation.  We do not encourage this.  The absences will be unexcused and your child will miss valuable instruction.  The grading period does not end until the end of school, so absences between now and June 19th will have an effect on the final report card.  Please keep your child in school until the last day of school, June 19th.

All of the following information is available on the online calendar:  Minimum days are June 17th and 18th (dismissal at 1:06 & 1:11).  June 19th (the last day of school) is a shortened day (dismissal at 12:30 & 12:35).  The school office will close at 1:15 p.m. on June 19th and will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20th.

Volunteer Tea:

That long awaited event, the Volunteer Tea, is scheduled for Monday, June 17th at 1:45 in the MUR.  If you have volunteered here at MSJE during the course of this school year, please watch for your invitation coming home in the Friday Folder. We hope to see you then and show our appreciation for the countless hours you have given to MJSE. Your time and efforts make MSJE a great school.

End of Year Medications at School:

If your child required medication at school this year, all medication still at school must be picked up by the last day of school. Medications must be picked up by an adult unless your child is authorized (current contract on file) to self-carry medication.

If your child will need medication at school next year, you may pick up a Medication at Schoolform D from the school office. Medication orders and orders for health services for next year must be dated after June 24th.

If your child required a specialized health care procedure (for example EpiPen, nebulized medication. or diabetes management) this school year, Pupil Services will send the forms to your home to be completed for next school year.

Elementary Band/Orchestra Registration for 2013-2014
