Learning about the Sun: Chapter 14 section 2

Read text and do Chapter 14 sect 2 in your workbook if you haven’t done so already.

After you have finished the workbook, do one of these assignments.  If you would like extra credit, you may do both

1)  Diagram of Sun Assignment:  Draw a diagram of the sun.  Use diagrams on pages 547-549 to guide you.  On your diagram, locate, locate and describe the interior including core, radiation zone and convection zone.  Also describe and note the sun’s atmosphere including the photosphere, chromosphere and corona.  Finally sketch and describe the features on or above the sun, including sunspots, prominences, solar flares, and the solar wind.  Provide descriptions that describe what is going on in these zones as well as size and temperature.  Be thorough in your descriptions!!

2)  Stormy Sunspots:  Read the lab and work on doing the graph.  When done, answer the questions on the second side on another piece of paper.  The lab is also described on page 551 in your textbook
