Key Course Components

We will review all vowels and many tricky consonant sounds. We will practice word stress and grouping words for the understanding of the listener. Most importantly, we will discover the secrets of linking. What happens between words can make a big difference! All of this makes up the rhythm and intonation of English. Our primary focus will be on:

  1. Vowels and sound length
  2. Consonants and air flow
  3. Syllables and word stress
  4. Grouping your words, and using focus stress
  5. Linking word sounds especially for word endings (-ed, -s, -ing and others)

Requirements

Pronunciation classes require determination. If you already know a great deal of English, you may improve more quickly. Come to every class ready to work hard with challenging exercises and practice! Make sure to use what you learn every day not just in class. If you study for 5-10 minutes every day, and come to each class, you will improve and continue to improve after you finish the class series.

For Advanced and Professional Students you may already be familiar with pronunciation vocabulary and techniques but want MORE INTENSE and detailed practice. This can be challenging even if you are fairly fluent.

For Intermediate Students you will learn a lot of new vocabulary and pronunciation tools. You may need to take the class more than once.
Not recommended for Beginning Students.
