Dear Gomes Community,

All of us at Gomes are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic death of Greg Muck.  His presence will be sorely missed.  He was liked and respected by all those who knew him.  The students who were in his class have been profoundly touched by this tragedy.
 
We can all take some solace in the good and lasting work that Greg did in his too-brief lifetime.  The results of his outstanding teaching and his beneficial influence on students will live on.
 
If you wish to send your condolences to the family, you may drop off correspondence at the office and it will be forwarded.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the school year comes to a close and Gomes gets to the CORE of things, I have to say that we have outstanding school programs and a dedicated staff which continue to bring praise and recognition to our school.  But, I also want to thank the Gomes parents and families for your support and service to students of Gomes.  Thank you for demonstrating to your child how important school is by taking the time off from your important work and busy schedule to volunteer.  Thank you for being a partner instilling a love of learning and investing in your student’s future.

I just read about a world leader who said, “A school is not a ‘parking garage’, where parents simply drop off their children.  It is a place of encounter along our journey. At school, we are ‘socialized’.  We meet people who are different from us, different in age, culture, origin and ability.  Families and school should never be in opposition, but they must work together for the good of the child.  Schools educate us about truth, goodness and beauty, which all go together.”

Gomes has been recognized again, this year, as a California Distinguished School.  Gomes is a distinguished place where many distinguished people share their love for children.  Thank you to all for making Gomes a distinguished school.

Enrolling in F.U.S.D.
 
If you have friends, family or neighbors moving into Fremont, please let 
them know that students are no longer enrolled at the elementary school 
site. If they are currently living in Fremont, they must begin the enrollment 
process online at www.fremont.k12.ca.us.  Once they receive an email 
confirmation, they can contact Student Support Services to schedule an 
appointment to complete the process.  Centralized Enrollment staff may be 
reached at (510) 657-2350, extension 12202 and 12204.
 

REGISTRATION FOR 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR

Enrollment packets for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Siblings of current TK – 5th Grade enrollees only will be available  in the office January 7-14.  Please be prepared to show proof of your address and photo I.D. when picking up your packet.

Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten sibling registration will take place on January 22, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sibling is defined as a brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, foster child placed through an agency, or other child for whom parent is legal guardian.  Sibling registration is for siblings of students who are attending Gomes School or who are overloaded from Gomes for the 2013-2014 school year with the exceptions of 6th grade.

Online Enrollment begins on February 3, 2014 for all other Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten students, and new students grades 1-6 and ends on March 3, 2014.  Please attend one of the Enrollment Informational Meetings for online enrollment information.

 

 
 

 

 
 
 
 

PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEW FACULTY AT GOMES

Mrs. Stauffer will be teaching 1st grade on Mondays in Room 401 and on Fridays in Room 402.

Mrs. Bousaba will be teaching 2nd grade on Fridays in Room 404 and grade 6 on Mondays in Room 410.

Ms. Stephanie Smith will be our Resource Specialist.

Mr. Walker will be substitute teaching 6th grade in Room 409.

Mrs. Parsons will be substitute teaching 2nd grade in Room 405.

 Effective July 1, 2013, the Office of Pupil Services will be officially known as the Office of Student Support Services (SSS).  The SSS will include the Language Assessment Center (LAC) and School Nurses, as well as the new Centralized Enrollment Center (CEC).  Due to these changes, the enrollment process for new Transitional Kindergarten (TK) – 6th grade students will be conducted in the new Centralized Enrollment Center effective July 8, 2013.  Therefore, elementary school enrollment will end on Friday, June 14, 2013 and elementary schools will no longer enroll new students for the 2013/14 school.    For further information, please call (510) 657-2350 after June 17, 2013 and ask for the Centralized Enrollment Center.

 

HELP DESIGN SCHOOLS OF THE FUTURE

Fremont schools are among the highest performing schools in the area. We work hard to provide our students the best learning environment with our limited facilities budget. Many of our schools are in need a major repair and modernization to prepare students for a 21st century education. On January 23, 2013, the Board of Education approved the development of a Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP) to guide facilities decisions for the next decade. The plan will help us make decisions about how to best use our funds and explore other funding sources such as a school bond campaign in 2014. Click HERE for more information.
 
 
 
 
These changes address the requirement for the child passenger restraint system in motor vehicles in California. This change now requires that “….a driver shall not transport on a highway in a motor vehicle, as defined in paragraph (1) of subdivision (3) of section 27315, a child or ward who is under eight years of age, meeting applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards.without properly securing that child in a rear seat in an appropriate child passenger restraint system
