Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our 3-6 grade students will be taking Smarter Balanced assessments this spring as part of the new testing program that will replace STAR. 95% of students statewide will take a sampling of test items for English language arts and math, plus one performance task from one content area. The remaining 5% will focus on one subject or the other and one performance task, state Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson announced in November. AB 484, which Governor Brown signed in October, ended most of the STAR testing for our students. For these reasons we are encouraging families to take the free Smarter Balanced Assessments at home. Below are directions for accessing the assessments at home.

HELP DESIGN SCHOOLS OF THE FUTURE
Fremont schools are among the highest performing schools in the area. We work hard to provide our students the best learning environment with our limited facilities budget. Many of our schools are in need a major repair and modernization to prepare students for a 21st century education. On January 23, 2013, the Board of Education approved the development of a Long Range Facilities Plan (LRFP) to guide facilities decisions for the next decade. The plan will help us make decisions about how to best use our funds and explore other funding sources such as a school bond campaign in 2014. Click HERE for more information.
These changes address the requirement for the child passenger restraint system in motor vehicles in California. This change now requires that “….a driver shall not transport on a highway in a motor vehicle, as defined in paragraph (1) of subdivision (3) of section 27315, a child or ward who is under eight years of age, meeting applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards.without properly securing that child in a rear seat in an appropriate child passenger restraint system
