Secondary Core Novel Adoption Proposals
FUSD Announces Secondary Core Novel Adoption Proposals for 2015-16
(Fremont, CA, February 11th, 2015) – The Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) has announced its secondary (Grades 7-12) core novel proposals for adoption for the 2015-16 school year. The public is invited to review the books and provide feedback at a community meeting Tuesday, March 24th, 3:30–6:30 pm, in the Professional Development Center at the FUSD District Office, 4210 Technology Drive, Fremont.
The proposed titles are:
· The Giver by Lois Lowry
· Anna of Byzantium by Tracy Barrett
· Whirligig by Paul Fleischman
· Chasing Lincoln’s Killer by James L. Swanson
· Night by Elie Wiesel or Maus by Art Spiegelman (Site to Choose One)
· The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (Site to Choose One)
· The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien

You are invited to attend a mathematics forum that will include discussion about a variety of topics. Topics discussed will include math acceleration: (skipping) vs compacting, depth of knowledge: comparing STAR with SBAC, why students need to learn how to speak and write math explanations, and differences between past honors courses and current compacted courses.
