CLASSES ARE STARTING!
 
We are now offering the Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician Programs.  
 
For more information on these programs, orientation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 am in Room 31.
 
Phlebotomy Technician 
Earn your certificate in as little as 3 months and qualify for an entry-level position in a laboratory setting.  As a Phlebotomy Technician you will be trained to draw blood samples from patients in a clinical laboratory or public health setting. Over the course of the program, you will gain exposure to on-the-job duties that include drawing blood samples from patients, producing quality laboratory results, gaining the trust and confidence of patients, and much more. The program includes 64 hours of classroom instruction and a 40 to 100 hour clinical phlebotomy externship, which will vary by externship site. The program will prepare you to take the Exam for Phlebotomy Certification (CPT1) from the National Healthcare Association (NHA).

Program Fee: $2795 (includes liability insurance, CPR certification training for the Healthcare Provider, externship and certificate). Pay the full amount and receive a $100 discount!  To Register: $300 deposit is required.  Textbooks are sold separately and must be purchased prior to the first day of class.  Scrubs and Name Tag: These items are sold separately and must be purchased prior to the first day of class.  Scrubs must be navy blue. Scrubs and name tag can be purchased by going to http://rec.amsuniforms.com. 
Prerequisites: 18 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent
Session 1:  2/24/15 to 4/30/15, Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Session 2:  6/9/15 to 8/6/15, Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm
 
 
Medical Assistant, Front and Back Office
As a Medical Assistant, you will be trained to help physicians care for patients, including how to take vital signs, perform basic lab tests and administer medications in a doctor's office or clinic.  The program includes 280 hours of classroom instruction and a 180-hour medical office externship. The program will prepare you to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam from the National Healthcare Association (NHA) and/or the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants.
