Welcome! I teach second grade. My goal is to help every child become successful in second grade. We work weekly on Reading, Writing, Math, and Science.

The more your child reads, the better they become at writing. They develop the skills necessary to write descriptive paragraphs. We write each week and practice different kinds of writing. We write friendly letters, descriptive paragraphs, How To's, and summaries of stories we read. Writing descriptive paragraphs helps children with visualizing what they are reading.

In math, your child should have memorized both the addition and subtraction facts to 20 by mid year. We learn about shapes and figures, as well as measurement, and weight. They also learn some multiplication and division.

Our Science program is wonderful here. We have weekly labs, and do other reading and writing in the classroom.

We have a wonderful program to help the children with reading - Accelerated Reader - AR. Mrs. Baeza runs the program through the library and each student will read a book and take a quiz on it. The students with the most correct quizzes get a trophy at the end of the year. Keep reading and taking quizzes!

We have Music, Social Studies, Computers, and Art each week.
