Our Career Center is located in the library
complex in Room L5. From 7:00 a.m. until 3:30
p.m., students may explore college, scholarship,
career, and employment opportunities. In
addition to college reference books, catalogues
and videotapes, 20 computers have access to the
internet, as well as our career development
software, Choices. This software promotes an
interactive process of exploring possible
occupations and schools.
Career planning may
begin by taking interest and aptitude tests that connect
with related occupations, majors and schools. Students may
listen to guest speakers who visit during lunch to talk with
interested students about specific careers. Representatives
from colleges across the country visit our Career Center for
lunchtime and after school presentations. Students in all
grade levels will spend two to four periods each year in the
Career Center focusing on occupational choices, high school
and college requirements, and college options and
application procedures.
Applications, registration booklets, and forms are available
for SAT & ACT tests, financial aid, NCAA and TOEFL.
Information on available scholarships, SAT prep courses and
specialized summer sessions are continually updated.
Students interested in part-time employment will find job
opportunities on the Job Placement Board. Community
volunteer programs are also posted. Information and
registration for classes offered through the Mission Valley
Regional Occupation Program is available in the Career
Center. In addition to our Career Center Specialist, Ms.
Aldinger, our three counselors are often available in the
Career Center to assist students.
